WhatsApp is suing infamous spyware vendor NSO Group, saying the corporate was actively concerned in hacking users of the encrypted chat service.

In May, a significant software program vulnerability in WhatsApp was revealed. Using the flaw, hackers might load spyware onto a cellphone via a video name, even when the individual by no means answered the decision. Citizen Lab, the group that found the vulnerability, stated on the time that the assault was getting used to focus on journalists and human rights advocates. The spyware used within the assaults, known as Pegasus, was developed by the Israel-based NSO Group, whose software program has been employed by repressive governments world wide.
