Dual Becher Chase winner Walk In The Mill is ready to have a run over hurdles at Chepstow this week.

The 10-year-old, who completed fourth to Tiger Roll within the Grand National final 12 months, is having his marketing campaign constructed round a return journey to Aintree.

He holds an entry within the Chepstow Trade Centre Novices’ Hurdle over virtually three miles on Friday – and is an meant runner.

Trainer Robert Walford stated: “He is entered on Friday and can most likely run there.

“It is only a novice hurdle, however he simply wants to get on a racecourse.

“He has done plenty of work, but this is not the be all and end all. He will probably just have this run (before Aintree), and then we will take him for a racecourse gallop somewhere. It is pretty much the same as last season.”

Walk In The Mill has gained the Becher Chase for the final two years, and his coach is hoping for an additional daring present within the National.

He added: “The type of his Becher win has labored out nicely, with the second horse (Kimberlite Candy) successful the Classic Chase at Warwick, and he appears in good type.

“He is just not nicely handicapped – but when he will get a very good run spherical within the Grand National, he needs to be within the first six.

“He is not the classiest horse, and a better-class horse would always beat him, but he loves those fences and he stays well.”
