President Donald Trump expressed solidarity with Iranian protesters on Saturday, as they took to the streets of Tehran after the Islamic Republic admitted it by accident shot down a Ukraine-bound airliner, killing all 176 folks on board the Boeing plane.  

Trump, in Twitter messages written in each Farsi and English, referred to as on Tehran to permit human rights teams to report info from the bottom and warned the federal government that the “world is watching.” 

Hundreds of protesters in Tehran chanted anti-government slogans in opposition to the Islamic Republic’s leaders on Saturday, in response to Iran’s semi-official Fars information company. The protesters, who numbered between 700 to 1,000, tore up footage of Gen. Qasem Soleimani, who was killed in a U.S. drone strike in Iraq final week. 

Video clips posted on Twitter confirmed protesters chanting “Death to the dictator” in reference to the nation’s supreme chief Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in response to Reuters. 

The protests come after Iran’s navy admitted that Ukraine International Airlines flight PS752 was shot down by Iranian missiles as a consequence of “human error.” Iran’s authorities beforehand stated it was not answerable for the crash, dismissing allegations that its missiles had downed the airplane as “a big lie.” 

Tehran reversed its place as worldwide strain mounted. According to the Iranian navy, the Revolutionary Guard Corps was on excessive alert amid tensions with the U.S. over the killing of Soleimani. The airline took off simply minutes after Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif stated ballistic missile assaults on two U.S. bases in Iraq had ended, in response to flight monitoring knowledge.

The protests in Tehran Saturday are solely the most recent spherical of demonstrations. The authorities launched a crackdown to quash the unrest, leading to tons of of deaths. Reuters has reported 1,500 died within the crackdown whereas the human rights group Amnesty International stated greater than 300 died.
