A day after the arrest of two ladies accused of drug peddling, the Patiala police discovered that the husband of one of many accused was operating a drug peddling racket from inside Patiala jail by means of a cellular phone. The telephone used to manage the racket was recovered, following a raid by the jail authorities, on Tuesday.
The district police had arrested Manjeet Kaur alias Bitto and Amarjeet Kaur on Monday, for possessing 850 gm heroin. In the course of the interrogation, Manjeet Kaur revealed that her husband Surjeet Singh contacted her from contained in the jail, the place he was lodged, to run the drug racket. The husbands of each the accused ladies have been lodged in separate jails in reference to drug peddling instances.
Patiala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mandeep Singh Sidhu informed Chandigarh Newsline, “A raid was conducted in the barrack, where Surjeet Singh was lodged. The police recovered a mobile phone from there.”
On the drug commerce being run from contained in the jail, SSP Mandeep Sidhu stated, the jail authorities have been requested to test the barracks for extra suspected folks, who could possibly be operating the drug commerce from contained in the jails.
The police lodged a case towards Surjeet Singh beneath the Part 52-A of Jail Act on the Tripuri police station, following which, he was taken on three days manufacturing warrant by the police.
Police traced the drug commerce after a tip off from Rajgarh village, the place each the accused ladies have been supplying medicine on Monday. The accused had been concerned within the drug commerce for over seven years. SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu stated, the police will seize the properties owned by the accused.
