LOS ANGELES — Octavia Spencer can be honored by the Homosexual, Lesbian and Straight Schooling Community with its Inspiration Award at a gala later this yr.
The group referred to as GLSEN introduced Tuesday that the star of “Hidden Figures and “The Help” will obtain the dignity on the group’s Respect Awards, offered in October in Beverly Hills, California.
GLSEN Govt Director Eliza Byard stated in a press release that Spencer “has devoted her career to diverse storytelling, promoting social good and is a steadfast ally for the LGBTQ community.”
GLSEN was based in 1990 to deal with LGBT points in K-12 training, and has offered the Respect Awards since 2004.
The group’s previous honorees have included Kerry Washington and Ellen Pompeo.
