OSHAWA, Ont. — Basic Motors has halted all car manufacturing at its meeting plant in Oshawa, Ont., because of a strike by the United Auto Staff union in the US.
The halt in manufacturing means about 1,850 unionized employees have been briefly laid off with pay.
