El Paso, Dayton Mass Shootings: John Legend, Cardi B & Chuck D Speak Out 1

John Legend took to social media Sunday (Aug. 4) to talk out on the lethal U.S. mass shootings that occurred over the weekend in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio.

The singer-songwriter first expressed his frustration over U.S. gun legal guidelines and white nationalism earlier than pointing the finger at President Donald Trump.  

“My heart aches for El Paso and Dayton. Our nation is experiencing these traumas far too often and we need our leaders to take urgent action: take these weapons of war off the street and fight the evil ideology of white nationalism that motivates many of these terrorists,” Legend wrote.

“When we condemn the racist venom coming from the President’s mouth and point out the bigotry of his policies, it’s not an academic question, it’s not a political game, it’s about life and death. The President regularly inspires killers. He is a part of the problem,” the singer continued.

This is not the primary time Legend has spoken out in opposition to President Trump. Final week, the “All of Me” singer known as Trump a “racist prick” and “piece of shit” throughout an interview with TMZ concerning the president’s derogatory feedback towards Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) and town of Baltimore.
