Control update revoked after it forced online play, removed Steam controller support

Remedy Entertainment is rolling again its new update for Control after it forced customers into online play and removed Steam controller support.

Control gamers on Reddit reported issues with the sport’s newest patch yesterday, suggesting it added digital rights administration (DRM) that required an web connection and removed support for Steam controllers — the DRM reportedly required gamers to entry the sport by means of the Epic Games Store launcher. The changes weren’t outlined in Control’s patch notes.

Remedy wrote on Twitter immediately that Control’s present points have been “caused by the latest update,” which was meant to “validate future paid expansions, not to force you to play online or to remove Steam controller support.”

The developer is reverting Control to its earlier model till the problem might be fastened. Remedy stated the brand new update can be out there “as soon as [it] can fix the issues that came up.” More data can be shared as soon as it’s settled.

Unfortunately, which means Control’s picture mode has been briefly removed from the sport. The much-requested mode was added to the sport in an update on Oct. 16. Players excited for the brand new function must persist with screenshots for now.

Remedy defined that the Epic Games Store — which is usually topic to criticism from the web — was not at fault for the error.
