Congress To Release First List Of Candidates For Delhi Assembly Elections On Sunday

Congress was decreased to nil in 2015 polls as AAP swept 67 out of 70 seats (Representational)

Congress, which was decreased to nil within the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, will launch its first listing of candidates for the 2018 polls on Sunday after a gathering of the celebration’s Chief Election Committee (CEC), sources stated on Thursday.

A senior celebration chief associated to the event advised IANS that they “will release the first list of candidates on Sunday, comprising about two dozen names” after discussions throughout the CEC assembly on Saturday.

Asked if there shall be a repeat of former MLAs of the celebration, he stated that the celebration this time is specializing in the winnability of the candidates.

Congress is making an attempt to make a comeback within the metropolis which it dominated for 15 years from 1998 to 2013 underneath the management of Sheila Dikshit. The celebration was decreased to nil within the 2015 meeting polls because the AAP stormed to energy by profitable 67 out of 70 seats within the metropolis, whereas the BJP gained three seats. Even in 2013 meeting polls, the Congress was decreased to eight seats, whereas the debutant AAP managed to win 28 seats and the BJP gained 31.

Delhi will vote on February eight to elect a brand new authorities whereas the counting of votes will happen on February 11.
