Canadian man shot in Saint Maarten has died: World Affairs

A Canadian citizen who was shot in Saint Maarten has died in Florida, World Affairs Canada confirms.

“Canadian consular officials are in contact with local authorities in Florida and are providing consular assistance to the family,” a spokesperson advised Internet Information in an announcement. “Due to the provisions under the Privacy Act, no further information can be disclosed.”

Police on the Caribbean island mentioned in a sequence of written statements this week {that a} Canadian was shot and severely injured throughout an armed theft on Wednesday.

On Friday, they mentioned the 48-year-old man whose initials are S.V. had been stabilized and can be flown in another country to obtain medical therapy

The sufferer was together with his daughter after they “were attacked by an unknown person” at round 11 p.m. on Wednesday, in response to the Police Power of Sint Maarten.

The person was shot “after a brief struggle” and located bleeding on the bottom, police mentioned. He was vacationing on the time, in response to police.

The incident occurred close to the Drift Wooden Seaside Bar on Beacon Hill Highway, close to the nation’s worldwide airport.

“According to information at least three vehicles left the immediate area directly after the robbery took place,” the police mentioned.
